Business Success Stories of the Week

Interesting business having people collect golf balls and selling them to a golf brand. Would be around $607k in gross profit for the year. That’s awesome.

Skincare company Fuerjia is crushing it selling $3 face masks targeting men. I think this is a good strategy. Dr. Squatch did this with soap and is up to $100 million in revenue. Pick something and create a brand targeting men to let them treat themselves.

Inc. 5000 is out and Defender Safety was an interesting one. They make higher quality hard hats with a chin strap and sell more than $10 million per year (September 2023 magazine edition has the details).

Inc. 5000 also covered Blueprint Lighting. They’re on track for $5 million in sales and they design/manufacture vintage light fixtures. They used to resell them and then thought why not make versions ourselves (September 2023 magazine edition has the details).

Helen Guo has created a 6 figure newsletter, SMB Deal Hunter, in 4 months. Post has details on the tactics she used to grow.

Business Ideas of the Week

Apparently polyphenol extracted from berries causes cream to solidify. It led to Kanazawa Ice pops that can stay frozen for up to an hour. How is this not being copied in North America?

Midjourney, the amazing AI tool, can create coloring book pages. Amazon direct publishing allows you to design books and they print and ship them when someone buys. Put your hands together.

This one is harder. People use other people’s cards to get into amusement parks, zoos, buy things at Costco, etc.

I think there would be value in a saas product that could let the customer service rep link the card to someone other than the member using it. Then the business could choose the outcome. Perhaps the first instance is “whoops someone used your card” email. Then an additional fee for future issues.

Could also give the customer service member a bonus when they find one so it incentivizes them to check.

What about a newsletter that covers the most interesting patents that were filed every week.

Check out the video here. Vision Pro lets you do spatial ads which can pull the product out of the page and see how it works. Could productize the creation of these ads as an agency business.

Trends of the Week

Shilajit is exploding. Didn’t even know it existed before this week. It’s been used in traditional herbal medicine and originated thousands of years ago in India.

Slat wall panels are booming.
