Pip decks: $5 Million+ a Year Making Card Decks to Help Careers
Pip Decks is a very interesting business. They create card decks that are designed to help you with a specific topic related like workshops, idea or strategy tactics. This is brilliant for a number of reasons:
It’s a physical product. Digital courses and newsletters are all the rage right now. There’s a million to buy and thousands on how to create them and Pip Decks is essentially a course. But it’s a physical product so it’s instantly differentiated. People understand it will be quick and they can go through the course in bite sized pieces.
It solves a problem. Every deck is specific to one theme. You know what you’re getting.
It’s quicker (to create and read) than a book. It’s easier to reread than a book.
It can be a write off. The product is bought by a lot of businesses on behalf of their employees. That lets you price the product higher.
The pricing. $120 CAD for a pack of cards! When it started it was much less, but they increased the pricing time and again and then added digital options that would add more value and let them charge even higher. I think too many businesses try and lower prices when they should be looking to add value and increase value/pricing.
This has led Pip Decks to a yearly run rate of $5 million in sales. Brilliant.
Update: Pip Decks hit 100,000 orders!
